ISS is an innovative and sustainable Portuguese marine biotech startup, dedicated to the discovery, development, production and commercialisation of sustainable and innovative ingredients derived from seaweeds, tailored to the needs of customers in cosmetics, nutraceuticals and pet care. ISS is a spin-off from CIIMAR and is well funded and supported by a lead investor which is a sizeable independent VC firm in Portugal with proven experience in successfully propelling Iberian startups into international markets.
Role summary
This role is for a proactive and results-oriented Sales and Business Developer Lead with a strong track record and network in Cosmetics, Life Sciences, or Nutraceuticals and a passion for sustainable innovation. You will be responsible for driving business growth by managing client accounts, developing new opportunities, and ensuring smooth sales processes end-to-end. Additionally, you will play a key role in educating partners about the efficacy, environmental consciousness and health benefits of our products and representing ISS at industry trade shows and other events.
You will work closely with the Business Development Manager and collaborate with a diverse, motivated team to support the company’s strategic goals and expansion into new markets.

Your passion for sustainability and the role of seaweeds in different markets will help position our innovative ingredients as market leaders. Acting as an important liaison between our clients and the Business Development team, you will ensure that ISS’s business development objectives are met effectively.

Skills:
- Proven experience (3-5 years) in sales or business development within the Cosmetics/Nutraceuticals/Life Sciences sectors.
- Educational background in Life Sciences or Business (Degree or Masters).
- Strong understanding of the Cosmetics and Life Sciences industries, including market dynamics and key players.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proven ability to meet and exceed sales targets.
- Extensive network of connections within the industry.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Familiarity with industry regulations and compliance standards.

- Lead Management:
Identifying and developing new business opportunities and generate sales.
Create compelling proposals and manage prompt follow-ups to secure opportunities and close deals.
Inform and engage with potential partners about the performance, efficacy, environmental and health advantages of our products. - Account Management:
Nurturing client relationships to drive repeated sales, ensure satisfaction and long-term partnerships.
Provide outstanding customer support by responding to inquiries and resolving concerns in a timely manner. - CRM Management:
Keeping our client and prospect data up-to-date and actionable. - Orders and Invoice Requests:
Ensuring seamless and timely execution of end-to-end sales processes, incl. After sales support. - Event Presence:
Representing ISS at national and international trade shows and other industry events to promote our brand and products.
