Role summary
This role is for a Lab Technician who assists in developing innovative and sustainable cosmetic, nutraceutical, and petcare ingredients based on seaweed extracts by implementing and performing pre-clinical assays in cell lines. You will work in a highly promising marine biotech startup based in Portugal, closely collaborating with an experienced and engaged R&D team.

What is the role?
Your main responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
- Implement and perform pre-clinical assays in cell lines, Implement and perform biochemical and enzymatic screening assays.
- Assist Product Developer teams for the development of prototypes of new extracts/ingredients and outline their applications.
- Ensure that formulated ingredients meet quality standards, regulatory guidelines, and industry best practices, as well as market trends and customer needs, as warranted.
- Generate technical reports, protocols, and documentation as needed.
- Collaborate with the production team to ensure successful scale-up of the ingredient formulations from laboratory to production scale. Provide technical support during manufacturing to troubleshoot any ingredient formulation-related challenges.
- Support the execution of IP strategy Support the CTO and Lab Manager in IDT projects.
- Incorporate innovative approaches into ingredients strategies.
What we need from you?
To succeed in this role, you will have the following:
Skills:
- Degree or Master in Pharmaceutical Sciences or similar (Chemical sciences, Nutrition Sciences, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Microbiology, Biochemistry, etc).
- Experience in cell culture assays.
- Experience in biochemical and enzymatic screening assays related to cosmetics and dietary supplement ingredients formulation.
- Experience in microbiology assays
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
- Preference for min. 1-2 years of experience.
