What is our vision?
Under the ocean’s surface, natural ingredients flow that are still to be fully discovered. They absorb CO2 and grow using sunlight and minerals of the ocean. Worldwide, over 12.000 seaweed species exist in different shapes, colors, sizes and nutrient content. We passionately believe they are part of the answer to adapt to climate and resource crisis, and a great source of bioactive compounds. ISS sources their seaweed from the pristine waters in Azores, Portugal, the fjords in Norway and other coasts. By leveraging the most advanced marine biotech science, we extract sustainable and natural solutions for your everyday products: seaweed ingredients. |

We work closely with innovative manufacturers of cosmetics, nutraceuticals, petceutics, and functional food and beverages. After listening to our customers ideas and needs, we develop tailor-made solutions using seaweed from our suppliers worldwide. Alternatively, we offer ready made bioactive ingredients from our growing proprietary portfolio.

Meet the team
Our team is specialized in biotechnology, microbiology, seaweed cultivation, innovation and new business development. We are the 1st spin-off of the prestigious CIIMAR - Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research.
